Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of Yorkshire's leading acute trusts, serving a population of more than 420,000 across South Yorkshire, North Nottinghamshire and surrounding areas. Hosting three main hospital sites and a number of additional services, the Trust is only one of five Teaching Hospitals in Yorkshire. It aims to train 25% of all medical students in the region, while currently training 30% of all other healthcare professional students. This modern and forward facing Trust employs over 6,000 members of staff. The Trust is one of the largest employers in the area, employing around 6,500 members of staff, 1,600 of which are nursing and midwifery, 450 medical, 1,700 non-clinical and 1,400 clinical support. In order to meet workforce needs in the coming years, more apprenticeships and training posts are planned, while investing in current team members to help them develop, belong and thrive at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The Teaching Hospital is currently working with partners at Sheffield Hallam University, the University of Sheffield and BPP University to develop on-site schools and new innovative roles, such as Assistant Practitioners. This will help to fill gaps in the workforce, as well as share skills internationally with partner organisations as far afield as China.
